All of our Site Server packages are out of sync and all of it is Microsoft Software updates. Here are the symptoms:
- Site servers shows a bunch of software packages as ‘Retrying’
- Duplicate packages with different guid shows.
Here is what I observed:
- Sw packages that are showing as ‘Retrying’ points to the old location c:\program files\altiris\patch management\updates in SQL table called SWDPackage
- SWDPackage table in SQL also shows the duplicate packages with different guids
This is started when I changed the software update download location from default location. I followed procedures when doing this, including running the task to ‘Check Software Update Package Integrity’ with ‘Relocate the downloaded packages if Software Update package location in Core services page has change option’. I even rebuilt the SMP and pointed the whole installation folder to the new drive. I found out later that the SWDPackage sql table is holding on these locations and confusing the system. Have you guys have had experience on this?
I was thinking of deleting items in the table that is pointing to the old location, but I am not sure if this is the proper way to solve this. I have disabled the redownloaded the software update packages with no avail.
Please Advice.
